Postcard from Dubai

Prior to the headlines this past week, I'm sure most Americans thought of Dubai as a manufactured desert oasis, filled with funny buildings, rich people and a place where the celebrity class would play.

On a show which aired last January and is preserved by someone's YouTube upload, host Piers Morgan (America's Got Talent, Celebrity Apprentice and several British reality shows, print publications) spends about 45 minutes giving a fast-paced tour of the city and a brief introduction to the its culture.

The first few segments are akin to Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous, while the latter parts scratch more at the surface of life, the city's problems, the potential for a credit crisis and their marketing plan.

If you have a little less than an an hour and can click through seven YouTubes, the program might prove to be an entertaining, semi-educational way to spend a portion of your afternoon.
